Folk-Punk Project Seeking Bass & Percussion (Butte, MT)
Folk-punk singer-songwriter looking to build a stripped-down trio. Think somewhere in the vein of Violent Femmes meets Bad Religion. Acoustic, fast, raw, and melodic. My biggest songwriting influences are bands like NOFX, No Use For A Name, Pat The Bunny, and Laura Jane Grace.
I’ve got about a dozen originals and plenty of covers ready to go. The goal is a setup that works just as well on a street corner as it does on a stage. Acoustic, portable, and DIY.
Looking for:
- Bass player - Someone who can keep it tight, melodic, and driving. Backing vocals are a plus.
- Percussionist - Not looking for a standard drum kit approach. Open to anything: cajón, washboard, bucket kit, suitcase, whatever works. Simple, fast, and locked-in matters more than flashy chops.
About the project:
- Practice about once a week.
- Shooting for 2 gigs a month to start.
- Based in Butte (no formal space yet, but I have places to jam).
- DIY mindset is very important to me. This is about making music we actually care about, not chasing trends.
This project is about honest songs and playing wherever we can. This will start as a backing band for the material I have, but I’m very open to collaboration if the chemistry is right. Ideally looking for more mature musicians (30ish+), but not a dealbreaker. More important is that you’re reliable, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
